BECOME A PATRON OF HOH! We have some wonderful things planned for HOH. These include putting on public events like Darwin Day and World Humanist Day. We also aim to do more outreach so as to let more people in the Houston area know about Humanism and about us. Once we have enough Patrons, we hope to be capable of someday paying rent on a building space of our own, to use as a Humanist & Freethought Community Center. But that requires your help. These efforts to better serve our members and promote awareness of Humanism require operating expenses. As it stands, our current modest yearly membership dues, minus AHA's cut, only cover our current costs, such as our meeting room, internet site, and other minor expenses. Without Patronage, the operating fund would normally hover without much growth. Therefore, we have developed something called the HOH Patron Program. For those who feel they would like to offer more to their local Humanist group, they can become an HOH Patron. This means that the Patron pledges to support HOH with a monthly payment of $20 (less than 70 cents a day). This is less than many people spend on movie rentals or snacks and of much greater value. In addition, it is far less than members of religious churches are asked to pay. These payments go directly into HOH operating funds, to be used for such crucial things as advertising, speakers, various other outreach efforts, public events, and additional services and activities for our members. Given that nonreligious people and freethinkers are in the minority, each new Patron makes a big difference for what we are able to accomplish!
Your Patronage will also include membership in the American Humanist Association. As a member of AHA, you will receive a one-year (6 issue) subscription to The Humanist magazine, and the Free Mind newsletter. As a special bonus, new members will receive the book Humanism as the Next Step by Lloyd and Mary Morain. Members will also have a voting privilege in the AHA.

What About Other Ways of Becoming a Patron? Whichever method you choose, we prefer it be an automated process. Reason being, we don't have the available resources to follow up with Patrons when it comes time for a payment, and more importantly, an automated process lets us know exactly where we stand when it comes to budgeting and planning for future expenses. What
